Of trees, rocks, and ice cream

My relatives and I went on a roadtrip last Sunday.  After travelling for almost 3 hours southwest of Melbourne, we arrived at the Otway Fly Treetop Adventures site. On this location, you can choose to do the treetop/canopy walk or go ziplining. Originally, my aunt wanted some adrenaline rush but the rate was pretty steep and the tour was 3.5 hours long. She opted for the calmer activity since my cousin  wanted to drop by The 12 Apostles afterwards. Fortunately, we prepared some food and some picnic paraphernalia because the food being served at their cafe was expensive. For our lunch, my aunt brought some fresh tasty bread and different spreads (chargrilled mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, turkey slices, salami, or hommus), plus fruits for dessert. In my book, the healthier the better! Now that we were all filled up, we started walking towards the visitor center.

I was warned that it might get a bit cold so I layered up before leaving the house. As we were walking, Mr. Sun was up and shining, and it made me think about my state of being in the next 2 hours. So I just had to remove my thermals and drop it back into the car. After confirming our booking, our trek began.

Don't. Look. Up.

Should not have looked up.

You'll notice that we've met some prehistoric creatures along the way. We decided to take this route first before starting the treetop walk.

Can you see the zipliners? At this point I was craving for some action, I didn't care if I paid AUD$100 or if the ride lasted for 3 hours.
"What's my age again?"
Let the Treetop Walk begin! Meet my cousin, Cherry.

Interesting vegetation formation
Don't look down either!
The walkways are made of lightweight material and they sway at the slightest movement. I was actually trying to scare my family but ended up scaring myself!
Hokay, after an hour of tree appreciation, we had to walk back to the visitor center for a good 5-10 minutes. No matter how much water I drank, it didn't do me any good. I was craving for something cold. And sweet. ICE CREAAAM!! I was glad that my cousin was feeling the same way. Since the cafe wasn't selling any of them good stuff, we had to settle for apples and water for the meantime, and stop by a cafe along the way. So we were back on the road heading for the Great Ocean Road, which was 1 and a half hours away from our previous destination. This is one of Victoria's famous tourist spots where you can appreciate natural beauty. If you're like me who prefers beaches and coastlines over mountains and trees, this is the place for you.

The Great Ocean Road is where you'll find the Twelve Apostles. Basically, they're a bunch of rocks (made of limesone, I believe) off the coastline. Unfortunately, each rock is not named after the biblical apostles but they're just collectively known by that name. But don't be disappointed because the view is just breathtaking! This was actually my second time to visit but it never failed to amaze me. Being the OC that I am, I did a headcheck on the "apostles" and I realized there were only 8! Well, boys and girls, that's erosion for ya! Anyhoo, here are my photos although I think these won't do Mother Nature justice.

The sea was calling me!
Indeed, the water was so tempting, or maybe I was really that dehydrated. Nearby, we saw people on the shore and felt like joining them so we drove off to a point where we needed to go down lots of steps just to reach sandy bliss. My mind said Go! but my legs were screaming No. I guess everyone in the car felt the same way so back to Melbourne we go.... erm, not really. We still had our ice cream cravings! Lucky for us, we passed by KFC later on and lowered our standards to Krushers. We still felt fulfilled nonetheless.

How was your weekend?
